Re: Star Trek Enterprise and Jake2.0 television series

I, the undersigned, am shocked and appalled to hear of 2 recent developments.

First and foremost, that the UPN network will not carry Star Trek: Enterprise into a 2004-2005 season. The loyalty and fan base for Star Trek is obvious. This would be a disaster to the UPN network as a whole and alienate hundreds of thousands of viewers from UPN.

Secondly, that the television series Jake 2.0 is cancelled. It has been replaced by an idiotic model competition show. Viewers tuned into UPN on Wednesday nights for Enterprise and then, eventually, remained tuned in to view Jake 2.0. This is a well-written and well-acted series, viewers WANT to see what is going to happen. It has become evident, also, that further episodes have been filmed, but there is no schedule to air them. This is dismaying.

Above and beyond the loss of viewership this will cause for the UPN network, there are more dynamics at stake. In many areas of the U.S., the networks that carry UPN programming such as Star Trek: Enterprise and Jake 2.0 are only available, with an extra charge through Dishnetwork and similar premium television services. It is evident that many viewers pay in the area of $5 per month JUST IN ORDER to view networks such as WWOR and WNLO, which carry UPN programming, most specifically FOR Star Trek: Enterprise and Jake 2.0. Without these programs, many premium cable/satellite viewers will drop these networks from their service, causing a substantial negative financial impact to companies like Dishnetwork. Not to mention the loss of advertising revenue for UPN itself on Wednesday night.

Further, there are news broadcasts (such as UPN9 NEWS), not local to premium television subscribers, that have increased viewership DUE TO THE FACT that they follow Jake 2.0. These news stations will suffer a decreased viewership.

Star Trek: Enterprise has a more diverse and loyal fan base than even Star Trek:The Next Generation did and it would be lunacy to drop such a show.

Jake 2.0 gained popularity slowly, but SURELY. It s not hard to guage that by viewing increased internet posting/discussion of the show.

I, the undersigned, will boycott any viewing of the UPN programming if Star Trek: Enterprise does not continue into it's deserved next season and, hopefully, 3-4 seasons following the 2004-2005 season. I, the undersigned, will also boycott all UPN programming if Jake 2.0 is not continued.
