We, the undersigned, are committed to the evolution of St. Vincents Hospital as a state of the art health care institution that will build upon its century of compassionate and distinguished service to the Staten Island community.
Furthermore, we are committed to ensuring that Staten Islanders continue to have options when faced with critical health care decisions - that the health care Industry continues to be a vibrant and competitive sector of the Islands economy for the benefit of our residents as consumers, employees, business partners and neighbors.
For this reason, we urge that every effort be made to prevent the creation of a health care monopoly on Staten Island when alternative health care systems are considered as part of the hospitals transfer of ownership.
