promote a meeting with "Shushil Shomaj" to discuss about the banning of Academic Reference/Note/Guide books which are published by Private
Book Publishing Organizations eg. Globe Library, Advance Publications, Lecture Publications, Popy Library, Panjeree Publications,
Obisshoronio Publications, Jupiter Publications, Anupam (Kajol Brothers).
Those leading the boycott call are a interested group of extremists seeking to use the boycott as part of their tender expansion in printing
government books eg. text books. These boycott proponents seek to hijack the union and use it as a weapon for propagating their marginal
business agenda.
They are the group who take 1000 crore taka from ADB as national education development loan already in the name of developing syllabus and
question system.Last year in disguise of some parents of children they went against"Structured Question" system at SSC ans stopped the system
by lobbying with some influential people at the May'08 approximately in the middle of the education year, for this reason about 9 lacs student had to buy their academics books again and national loss was more than 500 crore taka on this issue.
As the government was hijacked by them, the advisor decided to stop the system for all 22 subjects except Bangla and Islamic Studies and
declared to start it from 2009 (@ class 6-10 level).
THIS ATTEMPT OF BANNING ACADEMIC REFERENCE BOOKS BOYCOTT HAS TO BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE:
- It is counter to the universal principle of academic freedom
- It is a form of prejudice & discrimination
- It is counter-productive to EASILY REACHABLE SOLUTIONS for the Mass students
- It stifles scientific advancement, which depends on international interaction.
There is no country in the world, where academics books are published by government. Everywhere government give the syllabus and private
publishers eg. Penguin Books, DK Books, Mc Graw Hill Books, Prentice Hall publish books based on the syllabus written by various writer. In
this case there is no monopoly and students get chances to reach various types of informations for their own references. In Bangladesh only
NCTB (A government body) publishes only some books for the students which are being read in the school and now they are trying to stop all privately owned publishers as their book are not upgraded and matched with the quality, information and not well organized as the publishers books are.
In a sense Banning Privately Published Reference/Note/Guide books for students will make harder to get academic solutions easily and the
whole nation will be affected on this issue.
