The French warship Clemenceau was decommissioned at Toulon in France long time back in 1977 and it was resting there all these years as no country wanted it, even as scrap. Now it is French governments decision to send it to Indian ship breaking yard Alang, where impoverished workers would break down the toxic ship, with more than 500 tonnes of asbestos. Organizations like Greenpeace are condemning this decision of putting marine life and lives of workers at Alang in danger. Even country like Egypt kept Suez Canal blocked for the ship as they thought the toxic ship may affect the marine life there. It is not worthy losing lives for some money. We all Indians sincerely think that this act should be stopped and India should not get converted into worlds trash can.
