How Companies Advertise
I, Mike Filsaime, President of MarketingLine.com along with my fellow advertisers, marketers, and bloggers call on the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the White House and Congress to do away with the recently proposed regulations that would require marketers to spell out the typical results of products along with their extreme benefits.
The new guidelines on advertising endorsements and testimonials would end a marketers ability to talk up the extreme benefits of products while carrying disclaimers like "results not typical" or "individual results may vary." Instead companies would only be allowed to tout the extreme benefits if they also spelled out the average results as well.
Marketers and advertisers should have the right to show off their success stories and how their products and services work in a best case scenario. By signing the petition below, you are stating that you are against the newly proposed rules which will restrict how companies advertise their products benefits.
