Support for New Bedford/Fall River Commuter Rail Service

This is a petition to get the proposed New Bedford/Fall River Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail funded and built. This would provide direct passenger rail service to the following Massachusetts communities: North Easton, Raynham, Taunton, East Taunton, Freetown, Fall River, and New Bedford. It will greatly benefit the residents of those communities and others nearby them, with a quick, convenient, and cheap mode of public transportation to and from Boston.

The only reason it seems to have been opposed is due to suburban residents who believe their land value will decrease if the rail system cuts through their town. That doesn't sound like a goal for the common wealth. Also, it may be pipe dreaming, but you
