SAY NO TO TESCO
We, the undersigned, urge Sheffield City Council to reject Tescos planning application (Ref: 10/00539/FUL) to extend the Tesco store on Abbey Drive, Abbeydale Road by building a mezzanine level. We reject the proposed extension on the following grounds:
The proposed extension which is mainly non-food will have a disastrous impact on shops in local areas such as Abbeydale Road, Woodseats, Ecclesall Road as well as major stores in the city centre.
The increase in car traffic would cause problems along Abbeydale Road, at the junctions of Archer Road and Abbeydale Road, and other nearby roads, and create dangerous pollution;
The increase in delivery lorry traffic would mean that the present problems of lorries waiting in residential areas, or parked on pavements and bus stops, would worsen, together with extra noise at night from the delivery yard; and
The extension would have a negative impact on the local natural environment with a huge number of mature trees lost.
