The MHS Personal Listening Device Ban

Okay, Milford High School, of Milford NH, has just established a ban on all personal listening devices during school hours. We feel that this newly established ban is fair to a certain extent. It is understandable that classes such as English, Math, Science, and History that this rule should be implemented. On the other hand there are classes where listening devices should be aloud such as, Engineering, Computer Tech, and Art where there is a lot of individual work time for students. When there is a lot of individual work time, some students work better in certain situations, some being listening to music. It has been my observation that in the Engineering, Computer Tech, and Art classes that when students are aloud to listen to music they are able to stay on task and complete more of their work with better quality. We feel that if personal listening devices are banned in the hallways then thats okay a student can just pack it up after class and go to his/her next class. We feel that it should be a teacher decision on weather or not personal listening devices should be aloud in class and that violation of their rules will result in a reasonable punishment. Although this may or may not change your decision we appreciate your time taken reading this.

Sincerely, the MHS students

31. Brian R | This makes perfect sense. I think in basically any elective that gives alot of individual time like said above, listening devices SHOULD be allowed. I am totally for this petition and think it should be brought into serious consideration.
