Last Friday at our end of the year Breakfast of Champions, the coaches and the kids played a fun game of watermelon football. This game, that has been played for many years, involves greasing up a watermelon with Crisco dropping it in the pool and playing a game with 2 teams. The bad news is that there was Crisco left in the pool and it caused some damage to the pool. The pool had to be shut down until Saturday after 2pm. The swim team has taken full responsibility for the incident and is going to pay the clean up fee. It was not intentionally done and the team should not be penalized. Especially now, when our all star swimmers need the pool to practice. As of now the president of the Trailwood HOA will not let the swim team practice at Trailwood until she and the other board members meet to discuss the issue at hand. Fortunately, the HOA of Kingwood Place has met and has agreed to let the Trailwood swim team use their pool for practice. Crystal pools has also agreed to change their cleaning schedule to accommodate the Trailwood swim team. I question why our board feels that they can penalize our kids and take away pool privileges until they decide otherwise. Not to mention on the last week of practice, which is a very important week for the all-star swimmers to train. We are all run under the same entities so how come Trailwood can use the Kingwood Place pool until our board decides when or if we can use the Trailwood pool again.
Kingwood is known for family community involvement with their children. Our swim team organization is for the benefit of our kids and our community. I am all for the HOA and like having it, I just feel like the rules are written and we are adults and can follow the rules without the dictatorship of an angry board member. The team has taken responsibility for the pool closing and is paying for the clean up. It was an accident and not a reason to punish the team. We don't want to lose our swim team! If you want to keep our swim team please sign this petition so it can be presented to the board at tonights meeting.
