Where's The Cap'n?

Introduction
Since 1963, Captain Horatio Magellan Crunch aka Cap'n Crunch has been an iconic staple in both breakfast cereal and pop culture. For nearly 50 years, the Cap'n's unmistakable presence has provided millions of children early morning smiles and a great start to their day.

Current State
However, in 2010, the Cap'n still has no social presence (Facebook or Twitter) and no ability to interact with the generations of kids and adults who have and continue to enjoy his delicious cereal. There are unofficial fan and community pages, but still the Cap'n remains silent. Worst of all, after contacting Cap'n Crunch owners, Quaker Oats, it was explained no plans exist to change this, either.

We believe the time has come for the Cap'n to have a voice.
We are calling on the millions of kids and adults who have a warm spot in their heart for the Cap'n and believe his voice deserves to be heard. He has provided us nearly 50 years of delicious cereal, but we're not allowed to tell him thanks? Something must be done.

This isn't a contest or gimmick generated by Quaker Oats
There is no golden ticket or prize offered - we are not affiliated with the Cap'n directly (aside from obvious emotional ties) or his parent company, Quaker Oats. This isn't a scheme to sell more cereal or push more product. This is a project based on the fact that we wanted to send the Cap'n a message via Twitter and were told no. We know we have a voice and believe the Cap'n deserves one too. This is about showing the powers of social interaction and democracy in the digital age. This is about understanding your audience, what they want, and delivering it to them. Together, let's give the Cap'n the voice and respect he deserves.

We cannot offer a free iPad for signing this petition, but your vote and efforts will be heard and (hopefully) lead to the end of silence placed on our beloved Cap'n.
