24 Sussex Drive

Dear People of Canada,

I am asking for you to support this petition to tear down the home at 24 Sussex Drive and rebuild a completely new and modern residence.

The Prime Ministers official residence seems to be in desparate need of major repairs. From some reports it will cost $10 million dollars to renovate the property. This is absolutley ludicrous. 

The property was expropriated from Gordon Edwards, a Liberal member of Parliment, in 1943. He fought this move by the Federal Government but lost his legal battles. So this property isn't really a "National Treasure" or has any true historical importance to the people and culture of Canada. 

I am petitioning the new Prime Minster, Mr. Justin Trudeau, and the new Liberal Federal government to simply tear the property down and rebuild a new modern, secure, safe, respectable residence that our present and future Prime Minister and his family can live in style and comfort. A residence that allows the PM to conduct the business of running the country even from home. 

In most cases like this it is much cheaper to rebuild than renovate, especially with a property that is so old and has many issues. 

Time to stop putting bandaids on this issue and fix the problem.
