Many of us compost, or wish to, and see it as an easy way to become more environmentally friendly. I know my family has a compost bin and the difference in the amount of trash we produce is shocking.
I propose a change in the way San Diegans approach the issue of food waste: our city should implement a composting pickup system. This will not only create many more jobs for our citizens as planners, drivers, and more, but it will also bring profit as we can sell the resulting compost to local farmers. City-wide composting is a must. Other cities have been doing this for years. We need to do everything that we can to reduce our landfill waste.
