We, the undersigned, appeal the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Ankara accelerate the process of asylum seeking case of Ms Sadeghi. We know, because of the war conditions in Iraq and Syria, the workload of that office have been enlarged but assigning a long-term appointment to a prominent Kurdish and Iranian social and political activist seeking asylum to submit her case, is unfair and unusual.
Ms. Sadegh was repeatedly arrested, imprisoned and tortured in Iran by the intelligence agents and she has been yet persecuted. She and her family had suffered years of intimidation, humiliation, torture and violence by the judiciary system of the Islamic Republic of Iran because of her political activities and advocating for children’s rights, women’s rights and workers’ rights and since her life and the lives of her family were systematically threatened, they had to leave Iran. Her right hand is broken and her knees are complicated because of severe torture and she suffers from hypertension and heart problems because of several times imprisonment, torture and persecution. She is in need of peaceful and comfortable life after so long suffering and without medical care and treatment her health is at risk. In addition, she has lost several family members, including her brother, for defending workers’ rights for a sustainable life under the barbaric and Islamic Regime of Iran. We hereby ask the authorities of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Turkey, to process her application and recognize her and her family as political refugees as soon as possible and settle them in a third country. We really appreciate your cooperation in this regard.
