Reconhecendo que o Partenon de Atenas possui importвncia ъnica e suprema para a naзгo Grega como tesouro cultural, monumento histуrico e sнmbolo nacional;

que o Partenon й tambйm de grande significado cultural para a heranзa Europйia e mundial, tendo sido agraciado com o tнtulo de Patrimфnio Mundial da Unesco e tendo sido reconhecido como sнmbolo universal da liberdade e da democracia;

a importвncia do estudo apropriado do monumento reunindo todos os bens artefactos que ele possui em um ъnico lugar;

considerando que as naзхes Grega e Britвnica sгo unidas por alianзas polнticas, militares e econфmicas, e por laзos de amizade;

DECLARAMOS publicamente nosso apoio para a transferкncia das partes do Partenon que encontram-se atualmente no Museu Britвnico para um museu seguro e apropriado em Atenas, e neste momento

PEDIMOS para os governos Gregos e Britвnicos tomarem todas as medidas necessбrias e os passos devidos para assegurar o cumprimento deste fim.

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED,

RECOGNISING that the Parthenon in Athens is of unique and paramount importance to the Greek nation as a cultural treasure, historic monument and national symbol

AND that the Parthenon is also of great significance to the heritage of the Europe and of the world as a whole, having been awarded the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and being recognised as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy

AND the importance for the proper study of the monument in uniting all the artefacts belonging to it on one site

AND noting that the Greek and British nations are united in political,

military and economic alliance and by ties of friendship

PUBLICALLY DECLARE our support for the transfer of those parts of the Parthenon currently in the British Museum to a secure and appropriate museum in Athens, and

CALL upon the British and Greek Governments to take all necessary and sufficient steps to secure that end.
