Allow Strollers on Public Transit

This rule has caused safety and convenience concerns to people wanting to travel with toddlers or younger not able to sit in a chair without safety straps. It is almost impossible for a single parent/guardian to handle a toddler or younger, baggage such as groceries/laundry/other children, as well as be able to open and close a stroller while boarding a city bus. These tasks require two hands each and trying to handle children while closing a stroller can cause more harm than good. Children who cannot stand or sit on their own should be strapped into their strollers while a city bus is in motion - not the other way around.
It is stated on the Niagara Transit website that their mission statement is To provide a safe, affordable, courteous and reliable transit service which responds to the needs of the community.
The needs of parents/guardians of toddlers or younger is to have a public transit service that is safe for our children and that is non-discriminatory against people who are unable to sit/stand on their own.
Show us that the safety of Niagaras youngest is important to Niagara Transit.
