Whereas: Fans of hockey worldwide celebrate the thrills and disappointments of a hockey game in customs that in all cases require an audible response such as applauding, cheering, and chanting, all of which are encouraged by the public address announcer during AMS games;
and
Whereas: Musical instruments, including cowbells, french horns, staduim horns, and trumpets have been, and continue to be allowed to be brought into the Three Rivers Coliseum and used during AMS games;
and
Whereas: Fan participation is a crucial element in any successful sports francise and many professional teams are recognized for specific fan rituals, such as Detroit Red Wings fans throwing a real octopus on the ice during the Stanley Cup Playoffs as well as Green Bay Packers fans wearing cheese wedges on their heads, fans who paint their faces to honor their home team, etc;
and
Whereas: Allowing drums into the Three Rivers Coluseum during AMS games in no way impacts the quality or integrity of the game being played, but will encourage greater enthuasiam from fans;
Therefore, we call on the Tri City Americans Hockey Club to reconsider their decision to ban drums from the Three Rivers Coliseum during AMS games and let WE THE FANS of the Tri City Americans SUPPORT OUR TEAM!
