The purpose of this petition is to to have legislation introduced to draft an amendment to Public Law 97-359 to include Amerasians from The Philippines and Japan as beneficiaries of PL 97-359. This law definitely discriminates against Amerasians from The Philippines and Japan .

Despite being born to American fathers, Amerasians from these countries cannot take advantage of the Child Citizenship Act or other existing provisions of law.
This petition is about fairness and equality for all Amerasians. Amerasians from The Philippines and Japan should not be treated differently than other sons and daughters born to U.S citizen fathers.

There is no doubt that they are sons and daughters of American fathers. It is time to finally close a chapter in our history that has too long denied Amerasians from The Philippines and Japan the opportunity to be recognized as American citizens .

In the Pledge of Allegiance it states, With Liberty and Justice for All. Lets hold true to this statement that we pledge and make this country and its laws fair and just for all who are of American parentage. Congress must positively address this issue, amendment of PL 97-359 would restore, fairness and family values to our immigration system and correct past government oversights. The United States is a humane society that respects human rights and strong family values, I do believe, that because of America being so great, that Congress should revisit and amend PL 97-359.
