American Girl Retired Items.

I think that American Girl should not retire items, and should bring back the items they've retired. The following paragraphs bellow are statements and ideas on how American Girl can keep previous items and there items now and save money also. There are also reason on why they shouldn't retire items concerning the child's safety, and reason similar to that.




















First of all, American Girl should not retire items. It makes it hard for the people who buy from them to find them, and it's too much to deal with. I know that they started giving us warnings, but they don't always stick to them. For example a couple years ago there was an item that they said would be retired in a year, and it lasted longer than a year. Also, for Nikki they weren't suppose to stop selling her until January when Mia came out. They however stopped selling her in the middle of December. I think that if American Girl is trying to teach the girls to not lie and keep to their promises, then they should do the same.













Next, they should bring back the items they retired. I have an idea on how they can do this. They should create another store/website/catalog that is for the items they no longer have room for. That way they can still retire items, but they still make and sell them to those who want them.













This idea for the second store is a good idea because the buyers remain safe. A lot of people are buying from places such as eBay. I've even started looking at yard sales and flea markets for the retired items, however you don't get the entire collection for the item sometimes. When I look at flea markets and yard sales, I see that the item is sometimes either always brand new or used. Most of the time if it's brand new they want twice of what it's worth, and if it's used it's sometimes broken. On eBay I'll only look at what's there because of identity theft. Most parents probably let there kids use the account for American Girl items because they don't know what's retired and what isn't. However, most of the time the item they buy isn't sent to them and then they lost money.













When I was little and I asked American Girl why they didn't sell retired items they told me to try and find someone to resell them to me. This is very rare because once an American Girl item is sold out and retired, it's very hard to find. A lot of people don't want to get rid of there American Girl stuff because it is a collection from there past.













Also, another idea I've been thinking about. How about they bring the retired items back every 4 years. Or they can only sell the spring and summer stuff at certain times, but give everyone at least 1 season ahead to prepare themselves for that season.













I know it will take a lot of time and effort for American Girl to think about these ideas if I get enough people to sign, but It's all worth it. They would help many people not get there identity stolen from places like eBay, and they would also help buy not letting some people get ripped off.
