Americans against Native American Oversensitivity

The intent of this Petition is to spread the word about the over sensitivity of the NACC (Native American Cultural Center) and their subsequent Boycott of CBS and Outkast for Outkast's "racially charged performance" on the 2003 Grammy Awards. And to consequently hold those who are responsible for this oversensitive action responsible for their actions. (See: http://www.nativecc.com/CBSboycott.html)

I'm calling for a Boycott of all Native American owned facilities, including but not limited to, Casino's, Restrauants, Schools, Trade Shows, Museums, Etc, until those responsible for this disgusting accusation of racism on television is stopped.

What gives Native Americans the right to say that other American's cannot wear costumes that very lightly resemble a Native American Culture, because it is "stereotypical" and "racial". Last I checked performances use just that, COSTUMES. They wear things to grab attention, they dance in a way to PERFORM for PEOPLE, to ENTERTAIN, and in no way was this performance in question directed solely at the purpose of degregating the Native American Culture.

Racism is when a person gives a negative connotation to a race of any kind with the sole intent of hurting that specific culture, person, or race. Outkasts performance in no way did this to the Native American Culture, and if you ask myself personally, I think their customes resembled Peter Pan more than they did Native Americans.

Should we be upset when we see a Native American wearing "Stereotypical American Clothing" such as a suit, slacks, jeans, or a t-shirt, and call for a boycott of Native American Culture due to that? No, that's ridiculous, but so is this accusasion that Outkast and CBS were doing just that, of the Native Americans.
