WE, THE UNDERSIGNED MEMBERS OF THE DEMOCRATIC
PARTY AND INDEPENDENT VOTERS WISH TO STRONGLY
EXPRESS OUR DISSATISFACTION WITH THE PATH THE
LEADERSHIP AND CONGRESSIONAL MEMBERS OF THE
PARTY HAVE TAKEN IN THEIR CONTINUED FAILURE TO
RESPOND TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND ITS OWN
MODERATE, PROGRESSIVE, AND LIBERAL MEMBERSHIP.
THEREFORE WE PETITION THE LEADERSHIP AND THE
PARTY AS FOLLOWS:
1- THE POPULISTS, PROGRESSIVE PLATFORM OF
PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE JOHN R. EDWARDS BEST
IDENTIFIED THE CORE ISSUES PRESENTLY FACING
OUR NATION AS WELL AS PROVIDING THE MOST
VIABLE SOLUTIONS. FURTHER,IT IS THE BEST
REPRESENTATION OF DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES.
2- THEREFORE, WE RESPECTFULLY ADVISE THAT JOHN R.
EDWARDS' 80 PAGE BOOKLET ENTITLED "PLAN TO BUILD
ONE AMERICA" AS SUBMITTED TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
DURING JOHN EDWARDS' 2008 PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN
BE ADOPTED AS THE OFFICIAL PLATFORM OF THE
DEMOCRATIC PARTY.
3- JOHN R. EDWARDS MUST BE ON THE DEMOCRATIC
TICKET FOR THE 2008 GENERAL ELECTION.
4- SHOULD THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND ITS
LEADERSHIP FAIL TO ACCEPT THE ABOVE
PROPOSALS IT IS THE INTENT OF THOSE
SIGNING THIS PETITION TO:
A) DRAFT JOHN R. EDWARDS FOR PRESIDENT
OF THE UNITED STATES IN 2008 ;
B) REGISTERED DEMOCRATS WHO ARE SIGNEES WILL
WITHDRAW FROM THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY AND JOIN
WITH INDEPENDENTS IN ORDER TO FORM A NEW PARTY
BASED ON JOHN EDWARDSPOPULISTS PLATFORM, AND SHALL
C) VOTE ANOTHER PARTY TICKET IN 2008 OTHER THAN
THE DEMOCRATIC TICKET AND SHALL
D) TAKE WHATEVER RECOURSE SIGNEES INDIVIDUALLY
DEEM APPROPRIATE.
