An amnesty for Scottish asylum families

Communities are heartbroken by the unremitting overnight 'disappearances' of their friends, neighbours and pupils and living in fear of who may be next.
We believe this goes totally against the spirit of One Scotland, Many Cultures and Scotland's need for people to come and settle, work and build families here.
We believe that dawn raids, anytime raids or the weekly disappearances of innocent families have no place in a civilised society.
We are therefore calling for an amnesty for all Scottish asylum families living here for a year or more. A precedent was set in 2002 for such an amnesty by the then Home Secretary. Scotland's economic conditions would benefit from such an amnesty today. We call on our First Minister to voice his support for such an amnesty for Scottish asylum families and to seek this from the Home Office as a matter of urgency.
