An objection to taking Diablo 3 to the consoles

Goal:

This petition is being made in order to make an impact on the possible decision to bring the upcoming, much anticipated game, Diablo 3, to any of the current-gen consoles.

By signing this petition, you agree with the general idea that bringing the game "Diablo 3" to a console, including all 3 major ones - Wii, PS3, X-box 360 - could hurt the experience of the game.


Reasons to fear a console "Diablo 3":

1. Top priority, most damaging aspect - Limited online community.
Dividing the game's community to 3 or even 4 different ones, will considerably reduce the amount of players in each. A smaller community lasts a much shorter time, and also, in a game that's based on fortune-acquiring, a smaller community will cause slower advancement of people in the game, poorer economy, and less traffic. This could very well KILL the game a couple of years too early.

2. Gameplay experience CANNOT be the same for console gamers and PC gamers, causing mixed opinions on the game, and hurting the general experience that the game should provide.

3. Gameplay itself could be damaged. Diablo is based on mouse-clicking gameplay, and actually - the fact you could play it with the mouse only is one of the things Blizzard was proud of when Diablo 3 was announced on WWI 2008. The lack of a mouse in consoles WILL damage the gameplay, simplifying it, and maybe even simplifying the PC version as a result, in order to make every player equal.

4. Overall reduction in the community's serious approach to the game.
The average gamer of today holds a console at his home, since he needs a simpler way of playing. Diablo 3 for the PC is design for casual gamers, and like every other Blizzard game - has a lot of depth, so it has a lot of room for more serious players. Consoles have a very high percentage of casual gaming, which will stop any community-based advancement in the game, killing it yet again.

5. Serious reduction in network quality.
Console multi-player gaming is very yound and un-developed compared to PC multi-player gaming. Being a game that's heavily leaned on online play, it's important to keep the online potential of Diablo 3 high.


Through this petition, we call Blizzard to listen to us and hear our need for a big, mature, stable, long lasting community in a game that's heavily leaned on it's online play in terms of life-span.

We, as players, want to play together and be equal to each other, and will not compromise any of the following:
-The potential size of our community.
-The equality of us all in every way including:
*Gameplay.
*Platform.
*Controls.
*The ability to choose between text-based chat and voice chat, and being able to use them both in the same way any other player would use them.
-Network quality.
-Region-based dedicated servers - Until now there is no console game that allows you to choose what server you want to play in, regarding regions.
-Taking a part in the Battle.Net community, and only in the Battle.Net community.


What we ask is that Blizzard Entertainment takes these facts and opinions into consideration while creating the game, and does a job as good as ever in bringing us the best possible single player and online experience.
