We, as fans of the motion picture version of the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, (based on the published works of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, directed by Peter Jackson) wish to protest the ineligibility of Andy Serkis for the nomination of "Best Actor" for the role of "Gollum/Smeagol" in the aforementioned film trilogy which the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has put into effect concerning the annual Academy Awards for the appropriating year.
We believe it is unfair for Mr. Serkis to be ruled ineligible for the award merely "because his on-screen character was computer-generated". Based on his brilliant performance in the movies, his was just as much a part of his character as any other actor in any other role as put as much effort as any other actor who would be deemed eligible for the nomination mentioned above into making his role as lifelike and realistic as possible. We find it unfair, atrocious, and ridiculous that such an extraodinary actor of his aptness and talent be denied the recognition he so warrants.

Andy Serkis was amazing; no-one else could have done that. Also, for those people who don't know, Andy Serkis did loads of voices: Gollum, Smeagol (before he was gollumised), witch-king, and 3 main uruk/orc voices in the scene beside fangorn.

I think that Andy Serkis should be able to go for Best Actor. Yes, his character was computer-generated, but under that is a fabulous performance that only Andy could pull off. Let's see some other actor try to be Gollum!
