Appeal Danielle Abrams' Termination

We are writing you this letter to appeal the recent termination of University of Michigan Assistant Professor Danielle Abrams from the School of Art & Design. The signatures below represent the support that professor Abrams has from graduate and undergraduate students that have benefited from her teaching, mentorship, and scholarship. We have confidence in her qualifications as an educator and would like for the decision to be reconsidered.

Professor Abrams' teaching philosophy and practice consistently put focus on contemporary critical theory of race and gender. She encourages seeing and understanding ways that everyday life, interactions with others, as well as personal and cultural context are meaningful in making creative work. We find her to have a generous and impassioned investment in her students and their success. Consistently bringing visiting artists and speakers to the Art & Design community, Professor Abrams actively connects students to relevant practitioners. Through genuine interest and sensitivity, she is supportive of a diverse student body and receptive to the wide range of creative work developed at the School of Art & Design.

We, the undersigned, believe Professor Abrams to be a remarkable educator as well as a unique and valuable component of the School of Art & Design. We respectfully request that her position be reinstated.
