Ask Coach Roy to help fix the ticket policy

As students of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, we are loyal fans of all UNC athletic teams. However, this school year (2006-2007) we feel that we have not been able to fully support the mens basketball team and have a tarnished image of the athletics department due to the implementation of a new distribution policy for tickets to mens basketball games. By signing this petition we affirm the following statements:


1) We do not approve of the new ticket distribution policy.


2) We do not approve of the way that the policy was implemented without allowing student review before it was approved.


3) We do not approve of the way that the Carolina Athletic Association under Rachel High and the ticketing office of the Athletics Departments under Clint Gwaltney have not worked with students to improve the policy.


4) We request that Coach Roy Williams and Chancellor James Moeser meet with Gwaltney and High in order to solve the absurd problems created by the new ticketing policy such as the following scenario: On Saturday December 2nd, there were hundreds of empty seats at the Dean Smith Center because students did not use their student tickets to see the Tar Heels play against the Kentucky Wildcats. Passionate UNC fans stood ticketless outside the Dean Dome seeking to support the UNC Mens Basketball Team, but they were denied admission to the game despite there being hundreds of empty seats.
