Ask Polston to withdraw recount request

After all provisional and absentee ballots were counted the margin of victory was 564 votes which equals 0.6\% of the total turnout in this election. (This was an increase of 114 votes from election night)
By law; our opponent has the right and to our knowledge has requested a recount in this race. The local board of elections have scheduled to administer that recount starting on Thursday, November 18th.
It is my strong belief that we should all contact Mr. Polston and ask him to withdraw his request for a recount by the deadline of Monday, November 15th, 2010 at 5pm.
A recount process cost our local government many hours of productivity and has the potential to cost taxpayers thousands of dollars.
In the history of Forsyth County we can not find an outcome in an election that was overturned after a recount. In fact, in 2008 for a district court judge recount; there was an 11 vote difference between the certified tally and the recount tally. During that county wide recount there were 109,426 ballots cast. In this election there are only 93,410. With 14.64\% fewer voters participating in this election it may be fair to assume that a recount in this election would only make a difference of approximately 9 votes.
So you can see that there is a track record of recounts being unproductive for the outcome of elections and delay the process of transition from our current Clerk to our Clerk-elect Susan Frye.
We are asking all of you to please email and/or call Mr. Polston and ask him to follow through on his pledge of eliminating waste in county government and withdrawing his request for a recount.
