AT&T Support CA Dream Act

As loyal AT&T customer, today I join the Power and Unity Coalition in requesting this company to advocate and support the California Dream Act, SB 1301.
For the last two years, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has vetoed a bill that would allow undocumented AB540 students to receive financial aid in public colleges and universities. This year the California Dream Act, SB 1301, does not have any state or institutional fiscal impact. It will allow AB540 students the opportunity to compete for institutional aid aid that is awarded on academic merit or financial need. Statistically less than 20\% of AB540 undocumented students would be eligible for this aid if the legislation is signed into law.
AT&T has strong ties with the Governor and provided his campaign and administration with over $500,000 in financial support. I ask AT&T to use this leverage in advocating for the California Dream Act.
If AT&T fails to pressure the governor to sign Senate Bill 1301, I will conclude that AT&T does not support equal access to education students in California, regardless of their immigration status. Thereby, I pledge to end my contract with AT&T (home, internet, and/or mobile) by October 1, 2008
