On the evening of September 13th, 2009, MTVs Video Music Awards aired at 8pm CST. The first award of the night went to 19 year old country/pop singer Taylor Swift. During the first few words of her acceptance speech, Kanye West rudely interrupted the young lady to arrogantly point out Beyonce Knowles Single Ladies (Put a ring on it) video shouldve received the award, and Taylor Swift was led off of the stage after Mr. West went about his rant. I commemorate Beyonce for letting Taylor on stage with her to let her finish her speech, saying I remember being up here when I was 17, accepting a VMA with my group Destinys Child. I know what it feels like to get an award at that age. Taylor should have her moment. I applaud Beyonce for that. But Kanyes actions, doing that to Ms. Swift, shouldnt go unpunished. He should receive an equal punishment for such an arrogant behavior displayed. I petition MTVs producers and CEOs to ban Kanye West from future appearances on the Video Music Awards shows. Please, if you disprove of Kanyes arrogant, selfish, rude, and cocky attitude and wish to send a message to MTV and let them know that we do not want Kanye to be on the VMAs anymore. Let them know that we should have the say of who is involved. After all, we vote for the winners, why not the people who give them out, or the hosts? This is America, and our voices will be heard. Sign this petition, and tell them that we, Residents of the United States of America, want the right to pick not only the winners, but the award givers, as well. This will be Kanyes last appearance on MTVs VMA show.
