Bank of America Boycott/Petition

The American public is tired of the way the banking industry is abusing both customers and non-customers in moving toward a fee-based business model. Banks are charging outrageous fees and employ questionable accounting practices and abusive policies toward the public and customers in an effort to maximize profit. This is true of most banks.
The banking lobby is very powerful with most persons relying on politicians to protect their interests. As long as the lobbyists have access to the bank coffers and the politicians ear, this will not happen. Even in the current crisis the banks helped bring on....
There is only one way to make a change.
We will be asking the public to Petition/Boycott/Pickett Bank of America.
The focus of this nationwide Petition/Boycott is to effect change on ALL banks by forcing a change in the way the largest bank in America conducts business.
This petition and boycott is looking to effect change in all Banks by taking on the largest bank in America, Bank of America, A major contributor to the current crises (MBNA/Countrywide Financial/Merrill Lynch).
Bank of America received $20 billion in federal bailout from the US government through the TARP program on 16 January 2009 and also got a guarantee of US $118 billion in potential losses at the company.
But after receiving billions in aid from U.S. taxpayers, the nation's largest banks say they can't track exactly how they're spending the money or they simply refuse to discuss it.
It's something any bank would demand to know before handing out a loan: Where's the money going?
Nearly every bank the Associated Press questioned -- including Citibank and Bank of America, two of the largest recipients of bailout money -- responded with generic public relations statements explaining that the money was being used to strengthen balance sheets and continue making loans to ease the credit crisis.
The public DEMANDS accountability from any bank receiving federal monies. As a recipient of our money, this also makes us a partner. As a partner, the public (that helped save your company) demands to be treated fairly...
The Public demands an end to Excessive fees, Questionable accounting practices and abusive policies forced on us. These demands apply to ALL banks.
As a signer of this petition, we DEMAND from Bank of America and ALL banks:
1. A FULL accounting of where and how our bailout money is being used.
For customers and the banking public, we demand a change in the way your bank conducts business. Signers of this petition expect:
2. Check reconciliation from lowest to highest dollar value to prevent excessive fees should customers make a mistake.
3. Reduced/Sliding NSF Fees - No more $35.00+ Fees for a .60 cent overdraft (example).
4. No unauthorized overdraft loans without customer consent. Clearly marked opt in/opt out. Don't authorize a charge to my debit card without my consent if the balance can't cover it.
5. No charges for non-customers to cash YOUR bank checks.
6. Reasonable fees on ATM fees and electronic transfers to cover overdrafts.
7. A stop to any "Hidden Fees" behind fine print
8. Whereas you consistently penalize customers for every small mistake with fees, you give nothing back to the customer when you make mistakes. Even if the customer must pay third parties because of your mistake. This is a practice that MUST STOP.
The signers of this petition agree that major changes need be enacted and will not do business (except on an as-needed basis only) with Bank of America (including MBNA and B.O.A. Credit Cards) as well as future car loans and home mortgages until Bank of America changes their currently excessive fees, questionable accounting and abusive policies.
Respectfully,
Robert G. Seketa
