BC LRMP and Morice LRMP Support

In British Columbia, the provincial government developed a land use planning process that was consensus-based, science, economic and socially driven, and an open process. Representatives from all stakeholders were invited to participate and drafts were put out for public review. These plans, Land and Resource Management Plans (LRMP), are the best planning tools available to the province and many hours, dollars and much effort was put into each one.
Currently, in Smithers, BC, a small group is trying to undermine that process and have the finalized LRMP recommendations changed to please themselves, irregardless of the negotiations, trade-offs and compromises that were made at the table in good faith. This group would like to stop the LRMP because they do not want one small area that has been negotiated to be designated as non-motorized even though the majority of the planning area allows for motorized recreation.
We the, undersigned, support the LRMP process and respect the work, time and money that went into making these plans. We respect the opportunities provided to every citizen for their feedback and the effort to accommodate the concerns raised in the feedback received. We do not want to see LRMPs haphazardly re-addressed once the LRMP table has made its final recommendations.

Snowmobilers already have enough areas for their operations... they have taken these areas away from the rest of us... we no longer have anywhere to go skiing. Not to mention the environmental damage that they do in the mountains.
