PETITION TO CHANGE THE NAME OF SESAME STREET CHARACTER 'VEGGIE MONSTER' BACK TO 'COOKIE MONSTER' AFTER IT WAS CHANGED BY PBS
The soccer moms have done it again. Faced with arguments that 'cookie monster,' a sesame street character who loves (or loved, until the producers snatched them away and replaced them with fresh greens,)cookies, was promoting childhood obesity. These arguments, no doubt, came from the same parents who gained 250 pounds on Mcdonalds food, sued it for making them fat, and failed, much to the pleasure of the rest of us.
Mcdonalds? Sue-proof. Cookie monster and Sesame street? No. So, to get revenge, these people decide to get back by arguing that cookie monster gives kids bad ideas about their diet.
There's been too much of that filthy term 'politically correct' lately. So the guy likes cookies? WHO CARES? The next time I hear the words 'unhealthy habit-forming paraphenelia for future generations,' I'm going to buy a roll of duct tape and stuff it in the mouths of the next senator who tries to get by with doing such a terrible crime.
The world isn't perfect, people. We're fat. We're racist. But changing words, or adding people in wheelchairs to kid's cartoons isn't going to solve anything. No, it's just going to make my life, and the life of others worse. Now, I would never discriminate against anyone, or laugh at a kid without legs in a wheelchair. But turning cookie monster into 'veggie monster?' This is one step too far.
It's time to reverse this politically correct slime. Boycott sesame street, if you must. Don't let your children, or your grand-children, or your great-great grandchildren crash. Let the show's ratings plummet faster than the stock market in the great depression. Let pbs go door-to-door begging for donations so they can afford to run this garbage. I don't care. Just make it stop. Once they change the name back... it will be the start, the future, for more to come.
Ending the term 'politically correct' starts now. It was bad enough for my school to ban dodgeball, even when we were playing with FOAM BALLS, for crying out loud, but this... this is one step too far.
