We the undersigned implore the President of the United States and Congress to immediately to reinstate the 55 MPH speed limit until the fuel
crisis from Hurricane Katrina has passed. Had this been done prior to releasing oil from our reserves the price of fuel would have been lower today. The only exception to this would be for vehicles
coasting down hill. While coasting down hill, the old speed limit would be in place. This reduction in the speed limit is not for safety reasons. This action would be to help stabilize and reduce the pricing of gasoline, diesel and heating oil while we recover from
the effects of Hurricane Katrina.
