Call to grant Clarets legend the Freedom of the Borough

The Burnley Express is backing a call to honour Burnley Football Club's best-loved son Jimmy Mcllroy.

Clarets shareholder Harry Brooks has launched a campaign urging Burnley Borough Council to make Jimmy Mac a Freeman of the Borough in recognition of his services to the Clarets and the town of Burnley.

And we are asking readers to back the bid by signing our petition calling for the special honour to be bestowed upon the great man who is widely regarded as the greatest Claret ever.
