I am an ordinary Canadian and I am against the New Copyright Bill C-61. The Canadian Government is trying to get our money from us by making it illegal to download a piece of music.. Downloading music and putting it on your MP3We, the undersigned, would like to make a stand against Bill C-61,whichwill make amendments to the copyright act that will affect Canadians asawhole. The copyright act should be in place to protect artists andothersfrom illegal downloading, but with this Bill illegal downloadingbecomesless of a crime than the average consumer utilizing their legallypurchasedmedia as they wish.
As a democracy it is your duty to represent the people, and representedthrough our signatures on this petition, is the decision the peoplehavemade.
Bill C-61 seeks to criminalize the average consumer for things whichthegovernment should not have a say in.
As Canadian citizens we are making a call that you stand up and trulyrepresent us by protecting our rights, not taking them away.
