We, the undersigned residents of Davenport, Iowa do hearby petition the Davenport City Council, to place on the general election ballot on November 6th, 2007 the following referendum:
The city of Davenport Iowa will allocate 10 percent of the 40 percent collected from the local option sales tax designated for captial improvements, to fund the hiring of additional police officers for the Davenport Police Department and the equipment necessary to employ them.
We understand this will not cost the Davenport tax payer more money, but rather is a re-allocation of funds.
