City of Heroes - No to Enhancement Diversity

Dear CoH/CoV Development Team:

We, the undersigned, request you immediately reverse your decision regarding Enhancement Diversification (ED). Many City of Heroes players have suffered through many nerf's and respecs. We have been exhausted with being forced to relearn how to play our characters every couple months. In your own descriptions of the game listed on your website, http://www.cityofheroes.com, you give the impressions that we can design our own characters and play to our own styles. Now you want to tell us how we can and cannot use our powers with enhancements. You are taking away the option of playing the way we are comfortable with.

We, the undersigned, acknowledge that ED will restrict our choices by penalizing us for using enhancements in a way we see fit. ED will reduce the effectiveness of most, if not all powers, including buffs, defenses, and the ability to output damage. The effect of these changes will be the dependency on grouping more, when prior to this proposed change the game was friendly to those who wished to play solo. We understand that our characters' ability to stand on their own against enemies will be drastically reduced, thus removing even more of the "Hero" aspect of "City of Heroes". We oppose the blatant and misguided attempt to "balance" the game by crippling our characters.

We, the undersigned, request the development team be more forthcoming regarding changes that affect gameplay. We request that you gather public opinion before working for several months on a wide-scale change, that affects everyone, especially when it does so negatively. We request the development team to listen to the player and customer base responses, and respond appropriately. We, the customers, will no longer put up with lies, half-truths, and misguidance regarding gameplay changes.

We, the undersigned, request the development team to rectify the situation in one of two ways:

a) Forgo the implementation of ED entirely.
b) Delay the implementation of ED. Propose a modified version of ED to the public; LISTEN to your customer base on ways to improve ED to balance it.

We, the undersigned, by signing this petition, officially inform NCSoft of the intent to cancel any subscriptions we hold to City of Heroes and/or City of Villains in the event that NCSoft does implement ED in its current form. Should NCSoft rectify the situation using one of the methods stated above, we will not immediately cancel our subscriptions at this time (due to this gameplay change). We acknowledge that some changes do need to be made from time to time, and we are willing and eager to discuss and test any changes that you feel need to be made. We strongly agree that ED will do no character any good, and strongly oppose it.

We, the undersigned, recognize that each person that signs this petition may still choose to cancel or renew subscriptions for any reason. This petition is in strict regards to the aforementioned proposed change(s).

We, the undersigned, have taken this step in response to the development teams apparent intentions to make the ED changes regardless of several thousand replies to the announcement encouraging changes or complete withdrawal of ED, with many who have experienced ED first hand testifying that it will and does ruin game play. Our intentions in signing this petition is to strongly encourage the development team to change coarse, or risk losing our loyalty and subscriptions. We care about City of Heroes, and are intent on seeing it improved, rather than destroyed.
