Clan Sinclair Library Books

The purpose of this petition is to ask the Right Honourable Earl of Caithness to not sell the valuable books that have been previously donated to the Clan Sinclair Library and Study Centre.

It has become known that the Clan Sinclair Trust may have some forthcoming legal expenses. It has also become known, that members of the Clan Sinclair Trust are considering, as a means to raise funds, the sale of these priceless historical research books. It is true that these books are assets of the Clan Sinclair Trust, but they were not donated to the trust for the purposes of being sold to raise funds, whatever the cause.

Historically, the Sinclair Clan had a valuable Library at Rosslyn. Today work is being done to create a new Clan Sinclair Library, some of this work can be seen at Noss Head.

We ask the Right Honourable Earl of Caithness and the Right Honourable Viscount Thurso to PREVENT THE SALE OF THESE BOOKS.

We also ask the Right Honourable Earl of Caithness and the Right Honourable Viscount Thurso to think about the implications that this "book sale" would have on future generations of the Sinclair family and researchers around the world.
