I am writing in relation to the development of a skate park in Clifton Beach.
i have been speaking to the people in the community and a large number have given positive feed back, agreeing that it would be a great thing to have in Clifton Beach.
there are also a large number of people that are saying that it would be a great idea outside of the Clifton community.
The benefits of getting a skate park in Clifton would be;
provide an opportunity for the young kids to be active
kids who are active at a young age can lead to them being active for a lifetime
a great way to minimise vandalism and provide the youth of Clifton with a greater sense of community ownership and belonging
a venue for youth based functions such as skating, bmx and scooter competitions
an opportunity for the middle aged (30 - 50) residents to participate in healthy activities
the only alternative for clifton residents is to travel to Lauderdale which is difficult with limited bus services to the community
there is a playground for young children but not teenagers and young adults
the coming together of a range of ages and genders for a healthy activity
There are many other benefits of a skate park in the community which the community would be happy to discuss with council. i am interested in receiving advice regarding what process would need to be followed to enable the community to progress this matter.
