Creation of a New Mascot at Nicholls State University

Nicholls State University holds deep meaning to all of its students, alumni, and supporters. However, since the abolition of the schools mascot, Tillou, a sense of emptiness has filled the air in Southeast Louisiana.
We hereby implore the administration of Nicholls State to immediately have a mascot created. The Nicholls community has waited patiently for a new identity for two years. We believe it is time to put this mascot issue in the past so we can move forward.
We ask that the administration of Nicholls State adhere to the following:
1. The creation process for a new mascot should begin immediately.
2. The new mascot must be created by a professional source, whether paid or unpaid.
3. The new mascot must depict a human.
4. The new mascot must depict a military figure from some point in American History.
5. The new mascot image must possess graphical quality equal to or greater than any NCAA school in America.
6. While the new mascot is being created, a student vote should take place in order to name the image.
7. After the new mascot image is selected, a promotional campaign should be launched.
We believe Dr. Stephen Hulbert will act with bold leadership to create a new mascot, just as he did to eliminate the old one. Then, and only then, will Nicholls State be able to move forward as a true first-class university.
