Dental for Disabled

To better enable people with disabilities, health benefits were established through medicaid because of the limited income a disabled person is allowed. The webster-britannica dictionary defines health as : the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit; especially : freedom from physical disease or pain b : the general condition of the body. This definition would include gum disease, cavities that could lead to, and anything relating to the oral fixation of a persons hygiene. The Americans with Disabilities Act promotes training and teaching disabled people how to be independant and self-sufficient to their greatest ability, but in doing so, a huge gap was overlooked by another health profession that also bears the same initials of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the ADA, or better known as American Dental Association. A typical office visit to your local dentist will cost you about 178.00 depending on your oral health. Disabled americans have no such affordability, or insurance that would help in paying that amount. For that reason I am asking for your signature on this ballot that I will personally send to the governor of South Carolina. If you, or a family member has a disability, or has a friend with a disability, please send this petition to them so that we may fill this gap that was conveniently overlooked by your local dentist. To dispel your thoughts of a local health center providing access, my research has shown me that useless referrals will be made, and the result will be denied unless you have the money or insurance to pay your way in. If you have a life threatening disease, you may qualify, but to who's benefit ? The only way to develop a condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit is through your mouth ! From what you eat, to how you brush your teeth. Your livelihood starts up under your nose. Thank you for signing this important petetion.
