We demand that the DeWitt County Board recognize and act upon our desire that policy regarding homeless pets at the DeWitt County Animal Shelter be left in the capable hands of Shelter Administrator Tamara McFeeters.
It is our opinion that donations of food, supplies and time to the shelter from the community not only alleviate costs associated with housing these animals, but also demonstrates that we care greatly about the fate of these homeless pets. Additionally, adoption fees currently in place compensate the county for altering, microchipping and vaccinating expenses.
For members of the County Board to willfully disregard the wishes of the community they were elected to represent is unconscionable and will not be tolerated.
We further feel that everyone hoping for re-election in 2012 begin taking into consideration the opinions of the constituents who will potentially vote them back into office.
