Sub: Decision to GO Hindi
We are a bunch of very keen, regular listeners to your Radio Station, in particular the English music. Over a period of time we have been listening to programs like The Nightshift, The Midnight Shift, Big Brunch, 90s on 925, GMM and College Radio.
Each of these programs caters to a different section of English music lovers and most of us actually listen to all of the above. Therefore, it has come as a total surprise, or rather shock that your Station has chosen to GO Hindi leaving all your loyal listeners stranded. We believe that this could probably be because there are other Cities involved which may have a large following of Hindi music lovers but Mumbai, we think is a City apart. It has a total cosmopolitan feel and has a huge following of English music lovers. So in the general interest of the English music lovers we have chosen to write this letter to you.
We were under the impression that GO was a station with a difference by virtue of the fact that it catered to us Mumbaites with the music we love. It was the ONLY radio station that gave us music lovers the best in both Indian and International music. Whether it was current music or the classics, GO was the best at what it did. We are sorry to say that this change to Hindi has come as a rude awakening. Needless to say you would lose out on the goodwill of a lot of your listeners. We can guarantee you that none of us ever tune in since the decision to GO Hindi.
When GO was launched 3 years ago it was a station that played only English music. We understand the need to cater to a wider audience caused GO to change the music it played and incorporate Hindi music as well. We also understand the need for advertising, marketing and revenue may have been factors that governed this change. However, we feel that if the need to cater to a larger audience has caused your station to GO only Hindi, the management has not taken into consideration the sentiments of its current audience and in the process has grossly let us down! If you look at it, there are a number of stations that already cater to Hindi music so what makes GO any different? Is it a question then of follow the herd?
We would appreciate it very much if you could re-consider your decision in view of the above and the general interest of the people of Mumbai who are starved of good English music.
