I've recently learned that Warner Brothers studios has hired McG, director of Charlie's Angels and it's forthcoming sequel to direct their next installment in the great Superman film series.
While this in itself is not that horrible what follows is. These following quotes come from Corona's Coming Attractions, a very trustable and reliable movie news site:"The director is McG. This just happened. The search goes on for a plot and a writer. Warners is seeing a lighter, funnier 'McG'-style Superman, getting rid once and for all of the Death of Superman plot and all the Burton crap."
Has Warners learned nothing from the tragedy that was Batman and Robin? Lighter and funnier superheroes does not make a good movie. Also movie and comics fans, not to mention hardcore Superman loyalists such as myself have been patiently biding their time waiting to see The Death of Superman film be made.
Please,please,please Warner Bros, if you have to have "McG" direct a movie that could be and probably will be a blockbuster on name value alone, at least give the fans a truly great cinematic experience. Don't slap together a brand name, and big stars and no script and place in on celluloid. Take the time get a great script, we're patient, we've been waiting since 1984 for another Superman, a few more months for a quality product won't hurt us. Please make this a good movie.
