We fans of the Boston Red Sox ask that the management of the team does NOT attempt to sign third baseman Alex Rodriguez now that he has opted out of his contract with the New York Yankees. We understand that Rodriguez's statistical dominance may seem attractive, but we simply don't want to be forced into rooting for him. We don't like him. Seriously.
Whether or not Mike Lowell is resigned to play third base is up to Lowell and the team management (and is outside the scope of this petition), but once again, we DO NOT WANT ALEX RODRIGUEZ. Often the wishes and preferences of a team's paying customers are overlooked in management decisions, and while this may be reasonable in some cases given the assumed superior baseball knowledge of the management, this is a unique situation. Rodriguez is good - we know that. We don't care. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN ALEX RODRIGUEZ.
