With the change in the schools badge and motto, there is no longer identification for the alumni with the institution that stands at 21, Tampines Street 45.
Mottos for schools tend to be laden with attributes the teachers wished the pupils really possessed. Pengetahuan suloh hidup/Knowledge the torch of life inspired for forty-five years, generations of pupils that walked through the schools doors. While individuals and institutions around the world jealously protect the use of their coat of arms, Dunman has certainly been quick in shedding the identity its alumni knows it by for more than four decades. Even a stylisation of the schools original badge has been taken too far (Note: NUS, founded more than a century ago, though stylised its coat of arms in recent years, never ventured beyond abandoning its original identity).
The alumni feels its disconnect with the school. One can only hope that the school song has not been changed too.
We urge the school management to reconsider its intention to change the schools badge and motto.

I really hope that if the inevitable change comes true, the Dunman school song will stand. Otherwise, where is the sense of belonging and pride to the school that was pain-stakingly instilled in us???

I was horrified to know that they changed both the school logo (which looks childish to me) AND the motto as well. It feels like a whole new Dunman...it's no longer how I remember it ):
