As Tate Modern celebrates its 10th anniversary and Tate Britain celebrates 20 years of BP Sponsorship, the rebranded BP logo remains a stain on Tates high reputation. Artists are angry that Tate and other national cultural institutions continue to side step this issue of sponsorship. Rather than helping prop up BPs outdated practices, it would be far more productive to help them re-invent themselves as a genuinely alternative corporation that thinks outside the barrel; to see their greenwash for what it is. High time Tate re-thought its role as the national HQ for contemporary art by looking for new progressive sponsors. Time too, for artists to search their conscience, to find the imagination and integrity to see that doing nothing is not a credible option.
It is simple - artists should not support BPs sponsorship of Tate. We the undersigned urge that Tate rejects BPs continuing sponsorship and moves into the twenty-first century.

One only has to look at BP's back record of disaster creating corner cutting to know where they are coming from! Pres. Obama was being polite referring to them as 'British Petroleum'. In actual fact, they are reckless, profit before lives and environment
