On December 20, 1985, 20th Century Fox released a science fiction film that contained a serious social commentary behind it. Based on the classic novella by Barry B. Longyear, and with a cast that consisted of Dennis Quaid, Louis Gossett, Jr, the late Brion James, Carolyn McCormick, and Peter Jurasik, Enemy Mine has gone on to become a cult classic in its own right and earning a huge fan following. Many fans of the film have known that Enemy Mine had been originally shot in Iceland by British filmmaker Richard Loncraine. Unfortunately, due to severe production problems and artistic differences between Mr. Loncraine and the Fox executives, Mr. Loncraine was replaced by German director Wolfgang Petersen. Mr. Petersen would go on to re-shoot the entire movie in the Canary Islands and Bavaria Studios in Munich, Germany(thus changing the story somewhat in the process). So, in reality, there are two completely different versions of Enemy Mine. One released into the cinemas and the other that only exists in the film vaults of 20th Century Fox Studios. We are petitioning your studio to release an ultimate edition of the film on a 2-disc DVD set. A remastered, widescreen edition that not only includes footage deleted from the release version(if any), but any footage that was shot for the "original" version of the film by Richard Loncraine. Including more special features to the film(i.e. documentaries and audio commentary by actors, directors, and crew). Please do the fans of this science fiction classic justice by releasing this movie in the aforementioned version. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
