ENSURE THAT THE INDEPENDENT PUBLIC INQUIRY IN LONDON GETS TO THE WHOLE TRUTH ABOUT GULF WAR SYNDROME

We want to hear from Gulf war veterans who have become ill and disabled.
We want to hear from their partners and carers who know the day-to-day facts of the illnesses because they have had to deal with them.
We want to hear about the battles of both patients and carers to get medical help, war and disability pensions, housing and justice.
And we want to hear from Iraqi people who have suffered from and are living with weapons pollution even more than military personnel. How else can we even begin to know the full extent of Gulf War Syndrome?
The Inquiry begins on the 12th July 2004. We are told that most of the sessions will be for medical experts. There are only two sessions planned to hear evidence from Gulf war veterans. How can that be enough to get to the truth?
If the Inquiry is intending to get to the truth, it must:
Encourage veterans to come forward by writing to them directly and publicising the Inquiry through the media.
Make funds available so that veterans and carers can travel and have somewhere to stay in order to testify.
Hold sessions of the Inquiry in other parts of the UK and abroad, and first of all in the Gulf.
Give advanced notice of additional sessions so that Gulf war vets and others who did not know about these sessions have time to prepare their submissions and /or make the trip to testify.
