To the Honourable the Commons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Parliament assembled.
The Humble petition of Rev'd Alan James Burgess, Clerk in Holy Orders, Vicar of The Benefice of Whitwick, Thringstone, and Swannington, and ex-officio School Governor of Swannington Church Of England School, in the County of Leicester Sheweth that
School Children in Leicestershire receive £600 LESS PER PUPIL from the Government than do pupils in Leicester City. And it is said by Leicestershire County Council that their allocation is the lowest in the whole of England. Schools throughout the County are being forced into DEFICIT BUDGETS and Leicestershire School Children are effectively being severely disadvantaged by this inequality of provision.
Wherefore your petitioner prays that your honourable House will cause an increase in the allocation of funds for Leicestershire School Chlldren to end this scandalous unfairness.
