Extend Child Support to 26

We, the undersigned, come together to request that each of the governing bodies of Congress take the necessary actions to revise the child support law so that coverage continues to the age of 26, to match the recent extension in medical coverage that parents are allowed to provide to their children, to the age of 26.
Our request is based on the following:
Recently laws have changed so that the parent can cover the child's medical insurance needs until that child reaches the age of 26. However, the single parent may not have the funds to cover medical insurance and related expenses to the age of 26 without child support. Many families in America are now comprised of single parents. In order for single parents to provide coverage for their children to the age of 26, they will usually need child support to afford it. Providing medical coverage to your children until they are 26 should not only be a privilege for upper class people, it should be affordable by all people.
We believe that the child support laws have not been reviewed and revised in a long time, and stopping the support at 18 is an outdated parameter. This age limit should be raised to 26.
